The singer appeared at a book signing at a Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles on Saturday, where cloth face coverings are required in public.
Fans of singer Lana Del Rey are questioning her choice of face mask during an in-person event over the weekend, after she appeared wearing a face mask made of mesh, according to Fox News.
Del Rey read from her new poetry book, “Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass,” and signed copies for fans at a Barnes & Noble in Los Angeles on Saturday, the day after President Donald Trump announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19, USA Today reported.

Face masks that cover the nose and mouth are required while in public in Los Angeles County, according to USA Today.
The mesh mask — with holes that did not cover Del Rey’s face and mouth — would have put the singer in violation of LA’s COVID-19 regulations, according to HuffPost.
Del Rey tested negative before attending the event and stood 6 feet away from people in attendance, said Del Rey’s sister, Caroline “Chuck” Grant, according to Fox News.
However, pictures from the event show Del Rey standing in close proximity to fans, according to Fox.
Some of Del Rey’s fans suggested there was a transparent lining beneath the mesh mask, according to HuffPost. But others criticized the singer on social media for her choice of mask.
“I love Lana Del Rey but honey that ain’t a mask,” one fan tweeted.
