Community briefs
- PBS Utah, KUER and KUEN are joining together to hold the Annual Eccles Broadcast Center Winter Food and Clothing Drive at the Eccles Broadcast Center in Salt Lake City. The drive will be held Dec. 11 from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. All collected food and clothing will be delivered to the Crossroads Urban Center to distribute to families that are in need. Crossroads is asking for frozen turkeys, hams and other nonperishable food items. Clothing donations can include clean, warm and gently used apparel for men, women and children. Blankets are also being collected. Monetary donations are welcome and are tax deductible. For more information, visit pbsutah.org/events.
- Solitude Mountain Resort has partnered with Utah Food Bank to collect nonperishable items for families and community members in need this year. Blue collection bins will be placed at Solitude’s main base area, Moonbeam Center, on Dec. 12-13 and Dec. 19-20. Anyone who donates nonperishable food items, with a slip of paper attached with their name and email address, will be entered to win one of 10 Solitude Christmas sweaters. Each donation tagged with the donor’s name and email address equals one entry in the drawing. Winners will be contacted no later than Dec. 22. The most-needed items for the Utah Food Bank are peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned meats (tuna, chicken or beef), chili, canned pasta meals, canned fruit and other boxed meals. - MOSAIC Inter-Faith Ministries in Salt Lake City is holding a Holiday Giveaway for extremely low-income individuals and families. The organization will be giving away holiday food boxes on Dec. 17.
