It’s a busy morning for BYU football news, with spring camp starting Monday and the school unveiling royal blue and navy blue helmets that will make their debuts in the 2021 season.
On top of that, BYU announced football matchups in upcoming seasons with the SEC’s Ole Miss and in-state opponent Dixie State.
The Cougars will host Mississippi at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Sept. 16, 2028, then travel to Oxford, Mississippi, on Sept. 8, 2029.
BYU and Ole Miss have played just once previously, when the Cougars went into Oxford and beat Ole Miss 14-13 in 2011. The game-winner came when former Cougar linebacker Kyle Van Noy scored on a strip sack in the fourth quarter to provide the narrow victory.
BYU will host Dixie State on Nov. 16, 2024, which will be the second game ever between the two schools, after they previously announced a matchup in the 2022 season. The Trailblazers moved up to Division I at the Football Subdivision level last summer and made their FCS debut last Saturday, upsetting No. 22 Tarleton State 26-14.
