Brighton’s boys soccer team improved to 4-0 in region play with an impressive 1-0 win over Skyline on wet and slippery game Friday afternoon.
The top-ranked team in 5A has yet to give up a goal in four region games so far.
“We played a solid game defensively. Our back line and goalkeeper have been fantastic all season. Skyline made us work hard. I liked the way we moved the ball for most of the game. If we keep getting the ball into dangerous positions we will start scoring more goals. Overall, I thought it was a good effort in wet conditions,” said Brighton coach Brett Rosen.
Brighton scored its lone goal in the 45th minute as Eliot Lewis put a dangerous ball on frame. Teammate Cameron Neeley nearly got a head on it, but it dropped just over his head and bounced into the back of the net.
“Good things happen when the ball is on frame,” said Rosen.
The goal was Lewis’ fourth of the season, tying him with Kaden Wilson for the team lead as the Bengals improved to 5-1 on the season.
