Although the big 6-foot-3, 230-pound Thomas will join the Utes from the junior college ranks, he has solid FBS experience. After signing with the Cincinnati Bearcats out of Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio in 2018, Thomas played 10 games as a freshman, tallying 499 yards on 89 carries with six touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2019, however, he appeared in just four games and transferred instead of redshirting.
In four games at Independence in 2020, Thomas rushed for 347 yards on 50 carries with five touchdowns.
In high school, Thomas received scholarship offers from a bevy of Power Five programs before signing with Cincinnati, according to 247 Sports.
