Will anyone break former BYU star Kyle Collinsworth’s men’s NCAA triple-double record?

Collinsworth is far and away the men’s NCAA leader in triple-doubles with 12, since assists started being tracked in 1983.

On Monday night, Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook broke the NBA record for most triple-doubles in a career, besting the 181 mark that legend Oscar Robertson set during his career, which spanned from 1960 to 1974.

On Tuesday, the Fox College Hoops Twitter account noted that former Provo High and BYU star Kyle Collinsworth is far and away the men’s NCAA leader in triple-doubles with 12 since assists started being tracked in 1983 (former Oregon star Sabrina Ionescu, now of the WNBA’s New York Liberty, tallied 26 on the women’s side). It also asked if anyone might ever catch him, as the next closest players racked up just six each during their careers.

As far as more recent men’s players, Winthrop star Chandler Vaudrin has four in his career, but he just finished his senior season. Two others, Arizona State’s Marreon Jackson (recently transferred from Toledo) and Illinois’ Ayo Dosunmu, have two, but Dosunmu has declared for the NBA draft. A bunch of current players have one.

Collinsworth, who plays professionally in Japan, didn’t get his first college career triple-double until his junior year (2014-15) but tied the NCAA men’s record with six that season. He then got six more as a senior.
