No rational reason exists for refusing to be vaccinated

Vials of COVID-19 vaccine stand ready for use.

Polio and smallpox disappeared because people were inoculated. Without this, the delta variant won’t be the last, or worst, one we see.

A friend once told me the type of person I struggle the most with is the person who is both irrational and uninformed. (My reaction: Who doesn’t?)

The person I struggle most with today is the person who is refusing vaccination against COVID-19. I cannot think of a rational reason not to be vaccinated. The people I have talked with who are not vaccinated are in two categories. They are either in the “I don’t need it” camp or the conspiracy theory/internet falsehood camp.

I told someone in my family a couple of months ago that he had a moral obligation to our family, our city, our state, our country, and to the world to be vaccinated. Smallpox is gone. Polio is all but gone. Both are due to vaccinations.

We will not rid ourselves of Covid-19 until the next sick person cannot find anyone to infect. And to those who still think they do not need a vaccine, the delta variant will not be the last or the worst we face.
