MILLCREEK — Unified police say they are very fortunate no one was seriously injured or killed when a man started randomly firing into neighboring apartments Thursday.
“We’re so lucky nobody was hit,” said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.
A man believed to be under the influence of drugs and hallucinating fired approximately 15 rounds from a rifle at the walls and ceiling inside his apartment early Thursday, Gray said.
The bullets went into other apartments, but amazingly no one was hit.
The incident happened about 3 a.m. at the Brick Loft Apartments, 3098 S. Highland Drive. The apartments are new and not every unit is occupied, according to police.
The man was still shooting when officers arrived. Believing there was an active shooter situation, police ran inside the apartment complex and confronted the man who immediately surrendered, Gray said.
Alexander Peace, 26, of Millcreek, was taken into custody.
