SALT LAKE CITY — A registered sex offender has been arrested again during a recent undercover police sting.
Miguel Angel Jimenez, 24, of Magna, was arrested Friday for investigation of enticing a minor and being a repeat offender, as well as 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
In February, Jimenez was talking online with a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl but was actually an undercover officer, according to a police affidavit.
“Miguel engaged in a highly sexual conversation with whom he believed to be a child. He also arranged to meet the child for sex,” the affidavit states.
When Jimenez, who was already on parole for enticing a minor in 2018, went to meet with his parole officer on Friday, he was taken into custody for the new case, according to the affidavit.
“He fully admitted to chatting with children and arranging to meet for sex. He self-admitted to being a pedophile and admitted to possessing child pornography on his cellular phones,” the affidavit states.
“Miguel Jimenez is currently on felony probation and also a registered sex offender. He self-admitted to being a pedophile and the likelihood of him chatting or meeting children for sex is enhanced. I also located a large amount of child pornography on his cellular devices.”
In 2018, Jimenez was arrested and later charged and convicted for a similar case, according to court documents. He asked an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old girl online to engage in sexual activity, the charges state.
